National Science Day is celebrated throughout India with great enthusiasm on February 28 every year to commemorate the discovery of "Raman Effect" by the Indian physicist, Dr. Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman on the same day in the year 1928. National Science Day is celebrated as one of the prominent science festivals in India every year, during which students of various schools and colleges demonstrate motley of science projects as well as national and state science institutions exhibit their latest researches. To commemorate and honor this event always in the future, the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) asked the Government of India in the year 1986 to designate February 28 as National Science Day in India.
